Race to the Stage
Race to the stage is a time trial racing game that me and my game studio team at SNHU developed for the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion. The objective of the game is for players to race through the pavilion while avoiding obstacles, and security guards, to make it to the front of the stage in the shortest amount of time possible.
My roles in this project were: Lead Game Designer and Programmer. Me and seven other people on my studio team were tasked with making a game for the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion to showcase at one of their shows in one semester. As the lead game designer I was tasked with designing the map, implementing and balancing powerups, and penalties for running into objects, as well as programming boundaries, sound effects, and other mechanics to make the gameplay as smooth and balanced as possible.
This project gave me a lot of good experience working on a team in a studio environment. We did weekly standups and sprints which gave me a good feeling for what working in the game development industry would really be like. This is also my first large project that I was elected as a lead designer which I found to be very enjoyable and a good learning experience for what game design truly entails. With the amount of time that my team was given to complete the project I am very happy with the end results and the showcase at the pavilion went great.
