Astro Cell
Astro Cell is a multiplayer social prison break game that I worked on for my senior project at NHTI. The goal of the game is to escape the prison with your fellow cell mates if your a prisoner and, if your a guard your goal is to stop the cellmates from escaping before the timer runs out.
My roles in this project where: Game Design, Programming, and Production. There were 5 people on my team and we where tasked to make a multiplayer game with social game mechanics due to the COVID-19 pandemic effecting peoples every day social life. For this project we used MLAPI for our networking. MLAPI was recently acquired by Unity but is still not fully integrated into Unity so we where on the ground floor when it came to developing the multiplayer mechanics.
I learned a lot from the challenges of working on this project. The multiplayer aspect of the game was a huge leap given how nobody on my team including me has ever developed a multiplayer game and we had very little experience with MLAPI. This is also the first time I ever filled a production role for the art team keeping the art team on track with what they were modeling and deciding what was more important to get modeled and textured first. This project was a great learning experience and I am proud of myself and my team with how it came out.
